Seminars & guests

Lee Priest came here.

IFBB professional bodybuilder Lee Priest visited Bodyworks to host a seminar for our members — a full afternoon of training talk, questions and photos with one of the most recognisable names in the sport.

That kind of visit doesn’t usually land at an independent gym in a town this size. We think it says something about what’s been built here: proper equipment, a serious training culture, and members worth turning up for.

The story behind Bodyworks

Consistency is key.

Bodyworks first opened its doors back in 2003, and we’ve been growing ever since. In 2018 we relaunched as a family-run gym, and it’s been a steady journey from there; adding more equipment, improving the space, and shaping the gym around what our members actually need.

Today we’ve got over 100 pieces of equipment on the floor, covering everything from your first session to your heaviest lift. But it’s not just about the kit, it’s about building a gym with no judgement. Just honest training, straightforward pricing, and a team that genuinely cares.

Frequently asked questions

Is there parking at the gym?

Yes — there’s free off-road parking right outside the unit. The entrance is on Pretoria Street, just off Green Lane, opposite the Featherstone Hotel. No permits and no charges.

Where exactly is Bodyworks Gym in Featherstone?

We’re at Unit 2A Warwick House, Green Lane, Featherstone WF7 6EH. The entrance is on Pretoria Street, just off Green Lane, opposite the Featherstone Hotel.

Is Bodyworks suitable for complete beginners?

Absolutely. A big part of why we relaunched in 2018 was to build a gym with no judgement. If you’ve never set foot in a gym before, tell us on your first visit and someone will walk you round the equipment.

Can I pay for a single session or a day pass?

Yes, day passes are available at reception if you’re visiting the area or want to try the gym before committing. Give us a ring on 07507 781892 for the current rate.

How heavy do the dumbbells go?

We run a full rack that climbs well past what most gyms this size stock, alongside Olympic bars, plate storage and a dedicated lifting platform. Come and have a look — the free-weights area is the heart of the gym.

Are there squat racks and lifting platforms?

Yes — squat racks, half racks, Cybex Smith machines and a platform, so you’re not waiting around to get your working sets in.

Is personal training available?

Yes. We can put you in touch with a trainer who works out of the gym — just ask at reception or drop us a message on Facebook or Instagram.

Is it suitable for women and older members?

It is, and always has been. Our members range from teenagers to retirees, and the gym is used by as many women as men — including a dedicated glute and hip thrust area.

Can I look around before I join?

Of course. Call in during opening hours, no appointment needed. One of us will show you round and answer anything you want to ask.
